Sno*Drift Rally: February 7-8, 2025
The Event
Sno*Drift is a 2-Day National, performance car, stage-rally event warmly welcomed each February by the residents and businesses of Montmorency County, Michigan. The rally is sanctioned by the American Rally Association (ARA).
This high performance racing event is comprised of prepared two and four wheel drive, road legal cars, racing on snow and ice covered sections of closed forest roads, in a time based competition. The event attracts upwards of 50 competition cars each year from all across the United States and even Canada.
The Start
Since 1997, the Sno*Drift Rally has traditionally been the kickoff to the US rally season and will continue that role for this year. Sno*Drift received Honorable Mention in 2008, and in 2005, 2011 and 2012, when it was named “Rally of the Year”, and is considered the benchmark by which other National Championship events are judged.
The Sno*Drift Rally was first run in 1973 and after several dormant years, the current format was restarted as a national event, in Montmorency County, in 1997.
The Unique
The Sno*Drift Rally is the only National ARA Winter Event with the added challenge of Rallying without studded tires. The Sno*Drift Rally is unique in that the entire rally is conducted on roads all contained within a single county. The compressed proximity of the special stages is highly beneficial to the competitors as it results in shorter transit distances between special stages, saving time, fuel and tire wear, as well as other factors.
